Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) can be done in many treatment styles. We are starting three new modified DBT groups for a variety of age ranges and populations. All of our DBT Groups are located in person at InsightDBT in Lynbrook, NY. We offer valuable DBT skills and affordable treatment. Scroll down to learn about our different groups.
Our DBT Group for Teen Girls ages 15–17 is a warm, supportive, and engaging space where teens can build practical emotional skills while connecting with other girls their age.
The group is designed to help teens learn how to manage intense emotions, build self-confidence, develop healthier boundaries, navigate friendships and relationships, and work through social anxiety, overthinking, self-consciousness, and fear of judgment.
Led and supported by our team of therapists, the group combines professional DBT skills training with conversation, community, activities, and fun. We want teens to learn meaningful skills—but we also want them to enjoy being part of the group, feel comfortable being themselves, and develop a greater sense of confidence and connection.
We believe emotional regulation is something teens need to practice in real life, not simply talk about.
In addition to traditional DBT skills training, the group incorporates mindfulness activities, experiential learning, and occasional outings that give participants opportunities to practice coping skills, confidence, emotional regulation, and connection in different environments.
Activities may include:
Our goal is for participants to leave with more than a list of coping skills. We want them to better understand who they are, what they feel, how they respond to challenges, and how to move through difficult moments without becoming overwhelmed by them.
Through DBT skills, supportive relationships, and real-world practice, teens can begin building greater confidence, independence, emotional resilience, and trust in themselves.
Our DBT Group for Teen Boys ages 15–17 is a supportive, engaging, and practical space where teens can build emotional skills, increase confidence, and connect with other boys their age in a healthy environment.
The group is designed to help teens learn how to manage strong emotions, handle frustration, improve self-control, build confidence, communicate more effectively, develop healthier boundaries, and navigate social pressure, anxiety, overthinking, and conflict.
Led and supported by our team of therapists, the group combines professional DBT skills training with conversation, community, activities, and fun. We want teens to gain skills they can actually use when things get difficult—not simply understand them intellectually.
The goal is to create a space where boys can feel comfortable being themselves, challenge themselves in healthy ways, connect with peers, and develop greater confidence in how they handle emotions, relationships, stress, and everyday life.
We believe emotional regulation is something teens need to practice in real life, not simply talk about.
Along with traditional DBT skills training, the group incorporates experiential learning, mindfulness, physical activity, and occasional outings that give participants opportunities to practice handling stress, frustration, uncertainty, social situations, and emotional intensity in a healthy way.
Activities may include:
For many teens, emotional growth comes from learning that they can experience frustration, anxiety, embarrassment, disappointment, or uncertainty without having to shut down, explode, avoid, or give up.
Our group helps participants learn to recognize what they are feeling, slow down their reactions, choose how they want to respond, and build confidence through successfully working through difficult moments.
Over time, these experiences can help teens develop a stronger sense that difficult emotions are something they can manage rather than something that has to control them.
Our goal is for participants to leave with more than a list of coping skills.
We want teens to develop a better understanding of themselves, their emotions, their strengths, their relationships, and the patterns that sometimes get in their way.
Through DBT skills, supportive relationships, healthy challenges, and real-world practice, teens can begin building greater confidence, independence, emotional resilience, self-control, and trust in their own ability to handle difficult situations.
DBT Gals is a warm, supportive therapy group for young frum Jewish women who want to better understand themselves, manage difficult emotions, strengthen relationships, and build greater confidence as they navigate young adulthood.
The group combines professional DBT skills training with meaningful conversation, community, and connectionin an environment that understands and respects the values, experiences, and cultural world of frum young women.
Led by a member of the InsightDBT clinical team, DBT Gals creates a space where participants can learn practical skills while also talking honestly about the challenges that come with relationships, family, friendships, self-esteem, anxiety, emotional sensitivity, and becoming more independent.
DBT is about more than learning coping techniques. It is about learning how to understand your emotions, respond more effectively when life becomes overwhelming, and create a life that feels more stable, connected, and meaningful.
Group members will work on skills including:
Young adulthood can bring a lot of pressure: relationships, dating, family expectations, friendships, school, work, independence, identity, and figuring out what kind of life you want to build.
DBT Gals gives participants an opportunity to work through these challenges alongside other young women who may be navigating many of the same questions.
The group is designed to be supportive, welcoming, and genuine. While the work is therapeutic, we also want participants to enjoy coming, feel connected to the group, and have a place where they can be themselves without feeling judged.
Most sessions will take place in our Lynbrook office, where participants will engage in DBT skills training, discussion, exercises, and group activities.
The group will also occasionally incorporate nature walks and outdoor mindfulness activities, giving participants an opportunity to practice being present, grounding themselves, regulating emotions, and connecting with others outside of the traditional therapy setting.
Our goal is for participants to leave with more than a collection of coping skills.
We want young women to develop a deeper understanding of who they are, what matters to them, what they need from relationships, how they respond to difficult emotions, and how they want to move forward in their lives.
Through DBT skills, professional guidance, and the support of a healthy community, participants can work toward greater emotional stability, confidence, self-respect, independence, and stronger relationships.
DBT Gals is hosted by InsightDBT at 15 Atlantic Ave., Lynbrook, NY.
